To borrow a theory from acclaimed author, Malcolm Gladwell:
"[Superior musical ability and superior musical taste] are statistically independent. The presence of one does not imply the presence of the other. You can have [superior musical ability and modest musical taste, or a wealth of musical taste and inferior musical ability], or -as in the lucky case of Andre Cleghorn - you can have lots of both."
Born in Brooklyn, Andre, a multi-instrumentalist, has had a successful and accomplished career as a bass guitarist. He has toured across the globe, mastering his craft and cultivating a sound and style that's all his own. As a teenager, he traveled internationally with legendary N.Y. radio personality and producer, Vy Higginsen. He credits those early years with developing his professionalism and musical integrity. Andre has also served as a bassist for many Independent and Major label artists such as, Asher Roth, Joe Budden, Mykal Kilgore, MeLo-X, Zack Borer, Africa Miranda, Melodie Nicholson, RAII & Whitney, Chanelle Haynes of the Grammy nominated group, Trin-i-tee 5:7 and Grammy Award winning singer-songwriter, Estelle. His extensive session-work with producers The Remedy, Arden Altino (Wonda Music), Darien Dorsey and acclaimed songwriter, Andrea Martin, provided him with a first class education in studio work ethic. His passionate approach is evident on MeLo-X’s “Gone Baby” and most notably, Rick Ross’ “Super High” featuring Ne-Yo.
With his forthcoming EP, whimsically titled, "One Hand and My Imagination", Andre is stepping from behind the bass cabinet and into the forefront as a writer, singer and producer. Drawing from his travels and the musical influences of Prince, Sa-Ra, J Dilla, D'Angelo, and Van Hunt, he aims to take his listeners on a ride through real emotions, full of groove and timeless soul.
